An Ephiphany!

I had an epiphany while driving yesterday. It was awesome, but I almost crashed. Anyway, it's not about sports or nothing.

So, we talk a lot in school about the disenfranchisement of gatekeepers with the advent of blogs, message boards, etc. In the old'n days, editors would filter information before it reached the public, so we only saw newspapers and junk. Now, anyone can publish anything, so the onus of filtering falls on us, the reader. Like, right now, you're reading this and thinking, "is this person 6? I'm never reading this stupid blog again. I'm going to YouTube and I'm going to search for puppies playing with shoelaces!"

Anyway, I came to a conclusion: Eddie, father of Gene and Bick, is blogs personified. And Toots, mother of Gene and Bick, is the collective readership.

Explanation of findings: Eddie talks, unfiltered, at all times. If Toots is around, i.e. when he's not annoying Pahler, she has to usually explain what he means when he says things like, oh, I don't know, "there ain't a man alive that has never dreamt of sucking another man's dick." Had Toots been the anchor leg of this golf foursome, she'd have to filter this material, though the damage had already been done. Like blogs, this act was published, so to speak, before it was filtered. Therefore, they can be read by anyone, and the filtering can only be done after the fact.

Typically, though, the filterer is the listener.

Conclusion: Pat Day will never again talk to Eddie.

Eddie, to Pat Day:"Hey Pat, you remember Harold Gilpin? Used to hang out at the old Ripken Bar on the Point?"

Pat Day, to Eddie: "No, I can't say that I do."

Eddie, to us: "Pat Day's a cocksucker."
